Huawei, the world's leading ICT company, has recently recognized a total of 10 meritorious students from five universities in the country as ICT talent. The announcement was made yesterday (September 2, 2020) at a virtual gala event titled 'Seeds for the Future 2020'.Huawei's Asia Pacific Vice President Shen Mingje opened the event with a greeting speech. Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP and UNESCO Bangladesh Chief Beatrice Kaldun were present as the chief guests on the occasion. Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited and other Huawei officials were also present at the event to inspire the winners.

A total of 500 students participated in the event at the primary level. In the end, 10 winners were selected based on CGPA, instant testing and student presentations on new technology and innovative institutions.

Huawei has been hosting this event in Bangladesh for the past five years. Normally selected students take part in a two-week training in China, but due to the limitations of this year's Covid-19, it has been decided to complete the training online.

The five-day online program includes live-streamed sessions with experts and guests from FiveG, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Economy, Industry Trends and Huawei. On the other hand, the issue of leadership skills will also be highlighted

Chief Guest Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel said, “It is becoming increasingly important for developing countries like Bangladesh to adapt to the changing global picture. To survive in the competition and keep pace with global technological advancement, we need to develop technical knowledge and skills among the youth. Skills in ICT will make them stronger and they will be able to play a stronger role in the development of the society. And it is really gratifying that one of the world's leading ICT companies is taking on the responsibility of assisting the talented technological development of Bangladesh. “

Beatrice Caldun said, “The need for ICT talent and innovative ICT solutions to address the various challenges of the Kovid-19 epidemic is greater now than ever before. Through the Seeds for the Future program, Huawei is helping young people in Bangladesh acquire skills and knowledge about ICT, which will help them succeed in their careers and contribute to the sustainable development of Bangladesh. ”

Shen Mingje said, “We have a huge number of talented young people in Bangladesh. Huawei believes that youth is the main driving force for development, especially digital technology-based expansion. We therefore welcome the strength and resilience of youth. And so we consider it our responsibility to help them find the right path by instilling in them a sense of self-worth and a sense of responsibility towards society. Following this, Huawei organized the ICT Talent Hunt program titled 'Seeds for the Future', which will help address the country's lack of a reliable workforce in the field of information technology. Through this, we want to instill in them a vision of the future, so that in future years they can give birth to better ideas for communication and development of talents in the society. ”
